" Modernised Preparedness and Response Capacity in South Caucasus / Ready to Respond "  PROJECT

With the financial support of Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations – (ECHO), Danish, Austrian and Icelandic Red Crosses Armenian Red Cross Society implements “Modernised Preparedness and Response Capacity in South Caucasus / Ready to Respond” project in Yerevan, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions. The project is launched on 1 January, 2019 and will continue till 31 December, 2020. 

 

The objective is to contribute to improving the level of preparedness of civil protection systems in Armenia by enhancing cooperation between civil protection and humanitarian aid actors and increase and diversify preparedness and response capacities of key actors. 

 

In order to achieve the objectives of the program, activities are organized in the following main directions:

  • improved emergency preparedness through Disaster Response Teams (DRTs).
  • improved capacity to supervise, lead, manage and deploy volunteers in emergency situations through established Emergency Operation Centres (EOC).
  • testing the response capacity of ARCS assessing the effectiveness of cooperation and command structures together with Civil Protection (CP) stakeholders and local authorities
  • integrate Cash Transfer Programing (CTP) as a response option in ARCS’ emergency response
  • increased capacity of  ARCS to respond timely and effectively to mental health and psychosocial needs (MHPSS) of disaster effected people in the region
  • strengthened regional cooperation and coordination in the field of disaster related MHPSS

 

 

Main beneficiaries of the project are ARCS Yerevan, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik DRTs, as well as stakeholders partnering ARCS in civil protection area.
