Armenian Red Cross Society organized the first competition of 14 community response volunteer teams in Arapi community of Shirak marz.
On 12 July, Armenian Red Cross Society organized the first competition of 14 community response volunteer teams in Arapi community of Shirak region. It was led by Shirak Regional Rescue Service.
Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan, President of Armenian Red Cross Society, Armen Yeritsyan, Minister of Emergency Situations and Felix Tsolakyan, governor of Shirak region, attended the event.
Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan, ARCS President, welcomed the participants, saying.
- Today I have to congratulate the volunteer team members, as their participation made possible to form such kind of teams, who can respond properly in the case of emergency situation.
The teams showed their knowledge and skills in the field of river cross, First Aid, helping the victim, they also passed DRR testing, pull out the victim from the ruins or a car, raised heavy objects.
Armenian Red Cross Society, starting from 2010, has implemented “Building Safer local Communities in South Caucasus” project in the sphere of DRR. In the framework of the project community response volunteer teams were established, in close cooperation with Shirak regional Rescue Service, regional and local authorities. Various trainings, drills and exercises have been organized for the teams, as well as they were provided with team and personal equipment to ensure quick response in the case of emergency situation.
