ARCS continues to support the most vulnerable

 Armenian Red Cross Society continues its efforts to relieve the social consequences of COVID-19 pandemic for the vulnerable groups. 

Starting from May 2, In Gyumri, Shirak region and in the surrounding communities, 1485 lonely elderly, disabled people and vulnerable families received one-month food and hygiene parcels with the support of the European Union.

The packages will be delivered to nearly 2,500 people in need in the region of Shirak during May.

The packages packed on the calculation of the minimum basket of per person, provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Humanitarian assistance in the region is provided with the support of the European Union, the Swiss Red Cross and USAID.

From the very first days of the State of Emergency, the ARCS has been implementing activities in response to the needs of vulnerable groups in collaboration with the Commandant’s office, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, from May 1, 770 packages of fresh food donated by local business companies were provided to lonely elderly, disabled people, orphanage graduates, beneficiaries of 24 hours’ care house, and self-isolated people by instruction.
